Fotoxx – Edición de fotografía
Dec 17th
Fotoxx is a free open source Linux program for photo editing and collection management. The goal is to meet most user needs while remaining fast and easy to use.
Navigate a large image collection using a thumbnail browser. Import most camera RAW files and edit with 16-bit color. Save edited images as TIFF-8, TIFF-16, PNG, or JPEG with adjustable compression. Edit the whole image or an area outlined with the mouse with adjustable edge-blending. Edit functions have fast feedback using the whole window. Multiple edit undo/redo. Add tags, dates, and star-ratings to images (using embedded EXIF). Search images (fast) using these criteria or (wildcard) file names.
The GUI has Chinese, English, Galician, German, French, Italian, Spanish. A user guide is available in English and Galician.
Edit functions include:
+ Flatten brightness distribution (frequent quick fix)
+ Brightness and color adjustments using movable curves
+ Trim (crop), Rescale, Rotate any angle, Flip horz./vert.
+ Warp (stretch/distort) image by dragging the mouse
+ Sharpen, Blur, Noise reduction, red-eye removal
+ Panorama / HDR / HDF composites (hand-held camera OK)
+ Artful transformations (simulated drawing, painting)
+ Pixel edit with variable brush and blending
To get a clearer picture, visit the fotoxx gallery using the “screenshots” link above.
Utility functions include:
+ Rename image files using a base name and sequence number
+ Select image area/object for subsequent edits or copy/paste
+ Tag (keyword) editing and searching
+ Slide-show mode
+ Batch convert multiple RAW files to TIFF-16
+ Select images from the navigator and burn a CD or DVD
+ View EXIF data (exposure data from camera)
+ Monitor color check
Hardware: Fotoxx works best on a fast computer with at least a gigabyte of memory. Up to four processor cores are utilized. Netbooks work adequately, but some functions will be slow and a 1024×600 screen is confining.

Kdesvn-build 1.10
Oct 25th
Kdesvn-build es una herramienta que permita compilar fácilmente KDE desde las fuentes de un repositorio.
Desde la versión 1.10 se ha eliminado el soporte para KDE 3, solo se da soporte a KDE 4.
Download it: kdesvn-build-1.10.tar.bz2 (58KB)
Code signature: PGP signature – key id 0×5406ECE8
kdesvn-build 1.10 had the following changes from the prior release (1.9.1):
New features/changes:
- Add support for using Git source control. This is required by the qt-copy andAmarok modules.
- The included sample configuration file has comments for qt-copy and amarok describing what you need to do to build them. Obviously if you don’t already have git installed, you will need to do that first. Afterwards you will need to add the correct repository option for each module (just uncomment the one you want from the sample file). You may select the branch you want using the already-existing branch option.
- All support for building KDE 3 modules has been removed.
- A command line option, --purge-old-logs has been added to make kdesvn-build delete old and unused log directories after the build is finished (this feature was already introduced in kdesvn-build 1.9).
- You may use --no-src and --src-only as aliases for the equivalent --no-svn and --svn-only options.
- kdesvn-build-generated log files now begin with a comment containing the command line of the command that generated that file.
- kdesvn-build performs build directory cleaning in a sub-process now, to avoid the useless “No log files” message that is generated if it fails to do this (usually due to permissions errors).
- This web site is no longer checked when downloading Subversion module snapshots, since the snapshots maintained here are out-of-date.
- kdesvn-build now works around a Subversion pecularity when the topleve source directory is a symlink.
Bugfixes:
- The svn info command is now run using a standard locale so that the output is as expected by kdesvn-build (KDE bug 200302).
- Do not crash if a config file is not found. (Note, it remains a bad idea to not use a config file at all, as I do not test this mode of operation more than about once a year. If you encounter a bug please let me know and I’ll fix it though).
